I began my art career as a painter.  I have always painted abstract art.  I started by using watercolor paints, then acrylic paint, then moved to experimenting with kiln-fired glass powder as my medium.  From the beginning, my artistic technique has always incorporated textures and building up layers with my medium.
In 2005, after my experience working in a glass studio, I began using fused glass powders as my "paint".  This technique is called "Painting With Light".  My unique process was self-taught through experimenting in my studio.  In addition to basic stained glass and fused glass classes, I’ve taken classes in glass casting and moldmaking, frit casting (w/Phil Teefy), in-kiln glass manipulation, sculptural kiln-forming and raking (w/Debra VanTol), coloring with frit, frit painting (w/Kerry Transtrom), relief image kiln casting and most recently, kilncasting and coldworking (w/Eric Whittemore).  In 2008 I was accepted into the prestigious, international juried-in exhibit, Emerge, at the Bullseye Gallery in Portland Oregon.  I also had work accepted into “Pilchuck on Display: An Exhibition of International Glass Art”, a juried-in auction of glass art by renowned masters and new talents from around the globe. At the 2009 Utah Arts Festival, I was awarded “Best of Show” and was an invited artist the following year. In 2013 I was awarded "Best of Show" at Art in the Park presented by the Boise Art Museum.  In 2015 I won "Best in Show" at the Kimball Arts Festival, and was invited back for 2016.  Since then I have continued selling my artwork at art festivals and have been awarded "Best of Show" at least once, at every show I have participated in. I live in Salt Lake City, Utah.
